Cleansing, toning, moisturizing, sun protection … Even if you observe all these rituals more strictly than a “Buddhist monk”, this is not at all a reason for skin health. This is because there are several bad habits that will negate even the best care for your skin.
-
Insufficient cleansing before bed
Sleep is as important as food and care. Cells regenerate and renew themselves at night – but only if the skin is completely clean. The urge to fall into bed after a long hard day right in your makeup is understandable. But dirt, sebum and cosmetics that have not been washed off clog pores, provoke acne and dry out the skin – you will have to pay for laziness with a complexion and a healthy look.
-
Smoking
Nicotine reduces blood flow to the skin, so it lacks oxygen and nutrients. And the toxic substances contained in cigarettes damage collagen and elastin proteins – as a result, the skin loses its firmness and elasticity. Because of cigarettes, wounds and abrasions heal more slowly: the width of the scar after abdominal surgery is on average about 7 mm for smokers, and about 3 mm for non-smokers.
Vitamins A and C reduce the harm from cigarettes a little, but the best thing is to just quit smoking – after 6 weeks you will notice how much better you look.

Use a sunscreen once a day
The SPF action lasts no more than two hours, and the sun ages the skin every minute. Back in 2012, a study was conducted in the United States that compared the skin condition of twins. The faces of the two sisters differed the most: the one who loved to sunbathe looked 10 years older.
Never skimp on sunscreen: use at least SPF 30, wear it all year round, and renew every time you go outside. And so as not to spoil your makeup, use powder or foundation with sunscreen effect.

Sweet tooth
Research shows that excess sugar and simple carbohydrates (bread, rice, potatoes) age the skin. Glucose molecules act on collagen, making the skin less elastic, smoother and more vulnerable to the sun.
Fresh fruits and vegetables, on the other hand, prevent damage and protect the skin due to their high antioxidant content.

Improper acne treatment
By popping pimples, you run the risk of getting a scar or infection. To get rid of the hated acne, you just need to properly care for your skin.
Dermatologists call benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid the most common and effective treatments for acne. But do not forget about the sense of proportion: too high concentrations can cause irritation, especially if you have sensitive skin. Studies have shown that 2.5% benzoyl peroxide solution is no less effective than 5% or 10%, and 2% salicylic acid in the product is enough to treat most types of acne.
